Heard of KOTA? This is KOTE!

Last weekend saw the Edge Watersports crew run the first ever King Of The Exe with a solid field of UK talent going for broke as Storm Callum lashed the UK. The forecast was so wild that the night before the event there was speculation about whether or not it would even be possible to safely run the comp but thankfully come Saturday the wind had softened to a more genteel 30+ knots and the green light was given!

Howling conditions on hand in Exmouth

The event follows the same format as the infamous Red Bull King of the Air which goes down each year in Cape Town, South Africa, and riders are judged on height and amplitude while also gaining points for the technicality, variation and potential criticality of their tricks.

Robin raising the roof with a beast of a kiteloop!

UK legend Robin Snuggs landed the biggest kiteloop of the event and was stoked to battle to the final where he took third against Guy Bridge and Oli Sweeney. Oli and Guy were going huge and pushing each other all the way with big kiteloops, late grabs and transitions as the wind pumped into the Exmouth estuary but Oli’s consistency gave him the edge and he took the win ahead of Guy by just half a point! He took home the particularly awesome looking KOTE trophy and a GoPro Hero 7 for his efforts.
